This week Jess has the wonderful Yuwa Aghedo on the podcast! Yuwa is a naturopath, nutritional therapist, herbalist, lecturer, and consultant for Activated Probiotics. She takes a personalised and holistic approach to support women’s health throughout their life course.
From an early age, Yuwa was captivated by plants, interested in people and recognised healthy eating aided athletic performance. This progressed to the formal study of psychology and professional training in Naturopathy, Nutrition & Herbal medicine.
Yuwa is now a highly experienced practitioner with diverse knowledge within the natural medicine/well-being industry.
Passionate to see positive change arise in the lives of the women that she works with, Yuwa believes that knowledge, empowerment and transformation in one area can have profound ripple effects throughout many other areas of life.

Yuwa highlights how she got in to the field of women’s health and what led her towards her (many) current roles that she fulfils today. She details how she uniquely approaches each of her clients, and helps to support them towards better health using a multi-facted approach. Yuwa also tells us some of the common issues that she is presented with by her clients, and some of the common strategies she helps them to employ to overcome such.
Establishing boundaries
Yuwa’s work doesn’t just focus on diet, she empowers women to take back control of their wellbeing and guides them to make positive change. Yuwa and Jess discuss some of the methods that Yuwa uses to support long-term change including, establishing boundaries, setting goals, and planning time for oneself accordingly.
Optimising your health — hacking” you cycles and your microbiome
Yuwa and Jess’ discussion of truly starting to listen to our bodies leads them to detail how you can plan your diary around your different cycles (including your daily cycle and your period cycle); therefore, allowing you to do your best work precisely when you feel best. They also discuss the importance of the microbiome and the understanding of such to create tailored solutions to women’s health issues including fatigue, low mood or low iron. By knowing what is right for our own bodies at different times, Yuwa guides us on how we can really feel our very best.
