This week we have the great Lindsay Davis on the show, chatting all about FemTech and women’s health in Asia.

Lindsay details how she set up the FAA (FemTech Association of Asia), an organisation aimed at building the women’s health ecosystem in Asia. Jess and Lindsay talk about the difficulties of establishing a new organisation, the benefits of collaboration, as well as the future of FemTech in Asia.

Considering the region hosts almost 60% of the world’s population, only 14% of FemTech companies are founded within Asia – therefore this is a really exciting and dynamic space, so definitely one to not just watch out for, but to get involved in!

Here’s a quick summary of some of the topics spoken about!

The episode is live now – so go listen!

The FemTech landscape in Asia

This space is rapidly expanding, and has great potential to really help a lot of people across the region. However, it is important to remember that this region is not homogenous, and each country should be recognised as having different needs, concerns and priorities. Lindsay Davis highlights some of the current themes emerging, as well as areas that look set to experience rapid growth in coming years.

The importance of community building

FemTech has the opportunity to show other industries that collaboration can really accelerate business much better than competition can. Lindsay and Jess discuss some of the ways to foster this, as well as Lindsay’s current experience in creating an ecosystem in Asia. Her organisation, the FemTech Association of Asia aims to bring together this community on to one platform, facilitating information sharing, mentorship, investment opportunities and skill sharing.

The future of FemTech in Asia

Lindsay also explains some of the struggles she has faced while establishing the FAA, not least the lack of education, service and attention surrounding women’s health — that we know as the gender health gap! Lindsay and Jess talk through some of the current trends in areas such as Singapore, as well as where they see the space heading in the future. All in all, this is an incredibly exciting place to be involved with right now, so if you are interested in getting involved, then we suggest you do so quickly!
